Rayne was conceived during a powerful meteor shower that occurred in Mermaid Falls one night. Her siren mother Kysea was seeking shelter in a cave near the island of Navia. Safe within the depths of the cave Kysea encountered a tall, strong and handsome merman named Zalee.
Zalee kept Kysea safe from the carnivorous creatures that lived within the cave until the meteor shower subsided. Zalee calmed Kysea’s fears and held her tightly throughout the night in an embrace that took her to a place within herself she had never known. It was then that Rayne was conceived.
The ancient scrolls speak of a power bestowed upon those conceived during certain astronomical events. During the meteor shower, the planet’s atmosphere was energized in such a way that any DNA coming into formation absorbed and stored light energy. Light energy was stored within Rayne’s DNA, and it was later discovered to regenerate anytime she released it into the atmosphere.
Rayne has the ability to create lightning and manipulate temperatures within the planet’s atmosphere. Rayne’s cousin is Saleen. Saleen has the ability to control the winds. Rayne and Saleen often collaborate to create atmospheric events for the benefit of Mermaid Falls.
Rayne is connected to the stars and the planets in such a way that her dreams are influenced by the alignment of the planets and stars. Her dreams connect her to those influenced by certain planets and stars at certain times. Rayne sometimes connects with Val through dreams in order to help Val maintain awareness during her healing rituals.
Rayne has the potential toward a very impulsive personality. The strong energies within her have the power to pull her in directions not aligned with what’s best for her or Mermaid Falls – it’s in her nature. Anya has taken it upon herself to train Rayne to balance her chi so that she can continue living in peace and harmony within Mermaid Falls.
Rayne has learned to recognize some of her triggers through keeping record of her dreams. Her triggers often involve the alignment of certain celestial bodies like the sun and the moon. Rayne’s weakness lies in a temptation toward chaos. Rayne has a thirst for constant change. Her fire is often kept at bay by occasionally skipping rituals and breaking rules every now and then.
Rayne has a sultry personality that often arouses the inner passions of those around her. She likes to tease others with rebellious ideas and possibilities. Rayne’s presence is magnetic and sirens are magically pulled toward her. She often travels to Queen Aloria and Queen Zillia’s queendoms. Rayne gets along really well with Sapphirah, but they can often get into trouble.
