Siren Val, also known as “Cotton Candy Mermaid” by her closest merfriends, is a sweet, calm, humble, patient, and gentle soul. Her gentle nature is not to be confused with weakness, as Val’s fierceness is objective and swift during combat. Her ability to remain calm and of “no mind” is admirable and makes her Anya’s most skilled pupil. Always observing everything around her, Val acts rather than reacts.
Val’s serene presence is often accompanied by Lumi, her loyal seahorse companion, who symbolizes unwavering friendship and magic. Lumi shares in Val’s calming aura and is known to help amplify the healing energy that Val radiates.
Val has the power to heal others through her aura. She soothes pain with the touch of her hands, and can calm others’ anxiety with a whisper. Val’s aura transmits serenity all around her, as it colors her environment with soothing tones from the color spectrum.
Val is also able to heal and replenish herself using her aura, but only in dreams. This is because when Val is awake, her aura can only transmit healing energy externally. But since all external stimuli is shut off when Val is in the dream-state, her aura is able to transmit healing energy internally- toward herself.
Queen Aloria taught Val a technique that allows her to enter the dream-state fully conscious so that she can immediately begin the task of healing and replenishing herself. Once Val consciously enters the dream state, she is able to focus on the task of transmitting a healing blue light from her aura to any part of her body. This technique has helped Val replenish and heal quickly, otherwise she would have to take very long breaks in order to replenish and heal herself.
At the age of 5, Val was given ownership of a golden harp relic that was stored away in a vault within the Abandoned Castle. The other sirens tried playing the instrument, but only Val was able to achieve musicality. Val can be heard playing the harp during important festivals at Mermaid Falls and is often invited to play at the four queendoms. Many have said it’s as though the instrument found Val rather than the other way around. Each day, Val plays a morning song to celebrate the sunrise, with Lumi often fluttering around her, as if enchanted by the melody.
