Mermaids, Mermen, Merpeople: The Right to Choose a Tail

Mermaids, Mermen, Merpeople: The Right to Choose a Tail

Merpeople are born with tails that have not yet fully developed. As time progresses, their tails begin to change in both color and shape. The changing of a merperson’s tail is marked by their unique physical attributes and activity level. Physical attributes are based on the merperson’s unique skeletal and muscular structure, while activity level can vary depending on the demands of their unique nervous system.

The way a merperson walks on land with legs also has an impact on the tail’s development. Just like some dancers have a unique style, merpeople also have a distinct way of moving that forms and shapes their tails.

The undertones of a merperson’s tail color remain somewhat consistent. For example, some tails have green undertones, while others have red undertones, which can be seen in the fin. The reason for the consistency of undertones is the unique DNA that merpeople are born with. The DNA translates to a unique color within the color spectrum, which can also be thought of as an aura.

We are all also born with a certain temperament that later in life plays a role in developing our unique personality through life experiences. However, these important elements that define us are not always reflected in our tails. As merpeople face different experiences, they will notice a desire to choose a tail that reflects their unique identity – a tail more aligned with their spiritual nature.

At a certain point in a merperson’s life, they will be given the choice for a tail that differs from the one they were born with initially. This is not to say that the merperson will do away with the tail they were born with, but rather the tail can now merge – on a deeper level – with the merperson’s identity and unique nature. These were things not inherited at birth but acquired through subsequent experiences.

We all live and die many times throughout our lives as we make different choices and have diverse experiences. These experiences bring us closer to becoming who we are meant to be. Thus, a merperson has the right to choose a tail that reflects their identity. Why? Because the right to choose who we are is something we were all born with.

Within the shimmering depths, our souls unfurl, choosing hues that reflect our inner world.” ~ Unknown
